On Christmas Day the majority of us will open gifts, listen to Christmas carols, watch a few of the Christmas shows that will come on television and importantly the majority of us will spend time with our families. All that is great, but not the reason for Christmas.
More than 2000 years ago (I'm estimating) a little boy was born in a manger in Bethlehem with a virgin for a mother and a carpenter for a father.
Around this time of year I always think about the night of Jesus' birth and I try to imagine how it all played out and even how Mary and Joseph felt. Joseph made Mary his wife, but when he saw she was pregnant he considered divorcing her privately so not to disgrace her. Joseph had no relations with Mary so that's why he was surprised at her being pregnant. Then one night as he lay sleeping an angel of the Lord came to him in a dream and told him that his wife Mary conceived a son in the Holy Spirit and that he should name him Jesus.
While in the town of Bethlehem Mary went into labor and there was no room in the inn so they went to the stable where the animals were kept and when Jesus was born Mary wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger.
I know that this blogs main focus is on the romantic kind of love, but as a Christian and it being Christmas time I just had to write about the night our savior was born. God sent HIS only son to Earth just to save us from our sins. Now that's true love.
While you all are celebrating this joyous holiday take some time and think about our Savior Jesus Christ.
Thanks for reading!
(John 3:16)
