Get Active Not The Same Old Tune

February of this year I went to a pre-Valentine's Day event hosted by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.  Everyone was dressed in their best and the atmosphere was light and friendly.  While I was mingling and waiting for my friend to arrive I noticed a gentleman a few feet away from me stealing glances in my direction.  I shrugged it off because I thought if he was interested in me then at some point during the night he would approach me and perhaps strike up a conversation.  He did not.  When that didn't occur my night wasn't in shambles because there were plenty of other men actively vying for my attention.

I Admit To Envy

I will admit that sometimes the green-eyed monster makes an appearance when I go on my Facebook news feed and see the cute couple selfies or that yet another one of friends is engaged or has gotten married.  For those that are unfamiliar with the term "green-eyed monster" I am referring to the feeling of envy.  Envy is defined as the resentment caused by another person having something that one does not have, but desires for oneself.  So, in other words - wanting what someone else has.

What's MY HAIR Got To Do With It?

Natural hair, Afro.
I have kept my hair natural my entire life.  For those of you that are not familiar with the term natural in regards to hair, it means that I have never used chemicals in my hair to make it straight or some prefer the term "manageable".  I am black, so therefore my hair is natural or kinky or nappy or whatever term you choose to use, but something that I am proud of especially at a time when society says that I shouldn't love my natural hair or I can love it, but do my best to hide it.
